Frequently asked questions
What platforms are supported?
Windows and macOS are both fully supported.
Is my data private and secure?
Your account and item data belong to you. They're only ever used to show you your own renewals and to send your own reminder emails. We don't sell or share your data with third parties. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Why do Windows or Mac warn me when I install it?
Renewal Tracker isn't code-signed yet, since that costs several hundred dollars a year that hasn't gone into the app so far. Because of that, Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper both flag it as an unrecognized app the first time, which is expected and not a sign anything is wrong with the file. The Downloads page has the exact steps to open it on both platforms.
What happens if I don't pay after tracking 5 items?
Nothing breaks. Your existing 5 items keep working exactly as before, with full reminders. You just won't be able to add a 6th item until you upgrade to lifetime access.
Is the $20 really one-time, with no subscription?
Yes. It's a single payment that unlocks unlimited items for as long as you use the app, with no recurring fee.
What if I buy lifetime access and change my mind?
Email us within 7 days and we'll refund you in full, no detailed justification needed. See our Refund Policy for the details.
Does the $20 lifetime price include future AI features you might add?
No. Your lifetime purchase covers the core tracker as it exists today, plus ordinary bug fixes and compatibility updates, forever. Any future AI-powered features or other major new feature lines would be a separate, additional offering with its own price, and your existing access is never taken away or reduced. See Terms & Conditions, Section 4.
How do reminders actually work?
While the app is open (including minimized to the tray), you'll get native in-app notifications as items approach their due date or go overdue. You'll also get a daily email summary of anything due soon or overdue, whether or not the app is open at the time.
Why not just rely on the emails my subscriptions already send me?
They arrive from a dozen different senders in a dozen different formats, some services don't send one until it's too late (or don't send one at all), and there's no single place to see everything at once. Renewal Tracker consolidates all of it into one dashboard and one daily email.
Why not just create a Google Calendar event for each renewal?
You can, and it works fine for a single one-time reminder. Where it breaks down is once you're tracking more than a couple of things: a calendar event fires once and is easy to dismiss during a busy week, it doesn't group everything you're tracking into one place sorted by what's due soonest, and there's nowhere to hold the renewal amount or account details alongside the date. Renewal Tracker gives you more than one reminder as a date approaches, one dashboard for everything, and a daily email either way, so a single missed notification isn't your only chance to catch it.
Does this work for things that aren't subscriptions, like a car registration or a passport renewal?
Yes, anything with a due date can be tracked, not just recurring subscriptions.
What if a service doesn't have a fixed schedule, like rent or a one-time renewal?
Items can be one-time or recurring (weekly, monthly, yearly, or a custom interval), so this covers both.
Does it work across multiple devices?
Yes. Your items are stored with your account, not just on one computer, so signing in on another Windows PC or Mac shows the same list. Changes made on one computer show up on another the next time it refreshes, which happens when you open the app, when you bring it back from the tray, and every 30 minutes.
Is there a free trial of the paid version?
No trial needed: it's free forever for up to 5 items, and upgrading unlocks unlimited items permanently for a one-time $20. Try it for real before ever paying.
What currencies are supported?
Items can be tracked in any currency you choose per item, and the spend summary groups totals by currency.
Can I delete my account and my data?
Yes, at any time, via a verified in-app flow (Profile → Delete My Account). See our Privacy Policy for exactly what gets deleted.
